Great Lakes Alberg Association (GLAA)

Rendezvous  Friday August 1 to Monday August 4, 2008 (inclusive)

 Proposed Event Format

Friday (Aug 1) afternoon – some boats will start coming into P.E.Y.C.

Friday night – “Get Acquainted” Reception & Registration - could tie in with our regular Happy Hour at the club.  GLAA will supplement hors d’eurves of Happy Hour with additional munchies, i.e. cheese tray, chips ‘n dip.

Saturday (Aug 2) am – in clubhouse, GLAA would like to set up a tray of muffins and croissants as a light breakfast for event participants and P.E.Y.C. members are welcome.

Saturday afternoon – casual race up to Hay Bay or to Glen Island (depending on weather) and back to club.  Organizing start/finish boat and race committee to be determined at a later date.

Saturday evening – BBQ dinner.  Request use of club’s barbeques and kitchen facilities to store and prepare food (depending on weather).  GLAA will provide steaks, chicken, salads and desserts, also paper plates and napkins.  P.E.Y.C.members are welcome to attend the dinner.

Sunday (Aug  3)am – Either buffet style or same continental breakfast as Saturday am

Sunday afternoon – there will be a couple of choices of things for people to do – a raft up somewhere on the Reach or vineyard/cider taste testing.

Sunday evening – no planned dinner – people will make their own choices.

Monday(Aug 4) am – for most event participants, this will be a travel day.  The GLAA will provide muffins in the morning and request the use of the club’s coffee urn one last time.

Registration Deadline for this event will be Friday July 11th, 2008 and I will provide a “confirmed” list of attendees requiring a dock or mooring at that time.  However, based on information given to me from past years…there could be 10 boats (4 X 22’s, 4 X 30’s, one of which is Scotch Mist II and 2 X 37’s) and 30 people.  These numbers are only approximate at this point in time. The 22’s trailering in may require use of the club crane.
Any P.E.Y.C. member who doesn’t have an Alberg is welcome to join in as crew in a sailing event or partake in the social gatherings.  Prices of meals for P.E.Y.C. members wanting to attend will be forthcoming by way of a notice in the Bugle and a poster on the club notice board…if this proposal is accepted.

Cathie Coultis, Member of GLAA and P.E.Y.C.
