RIVERBOAT FANTASY

This year's Riverboat was once again a success for the Sailing School as well as for all the people that attended it. Everyone there seemed to have had a wonderful time, enjoying a scrumptious repast while involving themselves in the wheel games, Beat the Dealer, Blackjack and horse racing. Some became so involved in the horse race that the safety and health of some of our noble wooden steeds,( not performing well that night) were threatened! Shari Harrison, our $600.00 elimination winner, was an enthusiastic fan of the horse races and showed much enjoyment when her name was never chosen. Way to go Shari, have fun with the winnings! The Blackjack tables were full all night long. I can never understand the draw of the game but that might be because I can never add up to 21 once I have had a beer or two. Thank goodness there are so many people that can add. Brett Hele enjoyed himself so much at the Blackjack tables that he volunteered to help out at the tables that night! After proving his competency to our Pit Boss, he was soon behind the table and was one of the last tables to close. Thank you Brett, see you next year. The Kinsmen, with the spirit for the night, dressed for the evening of gambling and ran the wheel games profitably - (even if we had to spot Terry Deroche a few extra floats) as well as kept things running smoothly behind the scenes. Our appreciation goes to you. Gail and Julie ran a profitable table at Beat the Dealer. I know personally as that is where I lost most of my money. And last but never least was the chef Kreg Theakston and his helpers who worked diligently to keep the platters of food replenished. You can always tell the success of your efforts by the constant parade of people who fill their plates and by the grazers who can not leave the table.
                  Thank you all.

We have had so many requests over the years and especially this year, to organize this event more frequently than once a year that the committee has agreed to do it. This August, we will be hosting Ascot Downs, a gambling night featuring the Horse Racing event but still including the other games of chance.  I'm sure it will be another success with your help.
