PEYC JUNIOR SAILING SCHOOL
The Prince Edward Yacht Club runs a Sailing School each summer for
two months, maintaining a fleet of eight CL Eleven's and three Laser IIs
to do so. The three instructors are, in general, at the Silver or Gold
Sailor level of the Ontario Sailing Association. Each new session of the
school runs for two weeks, at the end of which appropriate certificates
are issued to
 the successful students. Students mainly come from the County,
but we do attract applications from across Ontario including Toronto, Hamilton,
London, Ottawa and have welcomed kids from France, Ireland and the United
States. The Sailing School has now been in operation for almost twenty
years, and has been highly successful in all ways. This success is to be
attributed to the volunteer effort of club members, to the high quality
of the instructors, and to the local waters. There is usually a good SW
breeze blowing down the harbour , with the kinds of unpredictable gusts
caused by nearby land, but at times a norther will bring in good rolling
seas from waters further out, giving students a taste of very different
conditions.School fees are $325.00 for the two week introductory course and
$645.00
for the advanced Bronze level course. Registration
includes a Junior Membership in the Yacht Club. It has been our practice
to invite the Prince Edward County Social Services Department, The Children
Aid Society and Big Brothers/Sisters to nominate kids for participation
in the Sailing School. Those nominated are allowed to attend at no cost
to themselves or the nominating organization, all costs are absorbed by
funds raised by our Charity Night (see Events
Calendar) and other fund raising activities. For registrations contact

The age limit for children's registration is ten (10) years old. Preferably
they will be able to swim but is not a prerequisite. We will accept younger
students based on individual ability. For further details contact the

Bronze Level: - 4 week sessions: Session 1: June 30 -July 25;
Session 2: July 28 - Aug 22.
Fees: White Sail I, II & III (two weeks) - $325.00 +
$30.00 course materials. (one time fee)
Bronze IV & V
(four weeks) - $645.00 + $25.00 course materials
Please note: Bronze Level refundable security deposit of $250.00 covers
damage due to negligence.
